~Physical~
Kevin is tall and incredibly thin, looking as if a strong wind would snap him in half. About 6'2" he stands a good few inches above most of his class mates and weighs about 135 pounds. Most of the time his weight is hidden however because whenever he can he's wearing baggy, worn Muggle clothing with a cursory, and much patched robe thrown over them (more because he likes the look than anything) and occaisionally the mood will strike him to dress up in something more conservative but these times are rare and should be noted, as there will always be a reason. Kevin's hair is long, blonde and disheveled, often hangs down over his eyes when he's brooding quietly. His skin isn't pale, but seems that way; as he enjoys spending time outside reading and thoughtfully strumming his guitar than indoors where he often feels cramped and stifled. He has dark eyes, perched over his steep nose and thin lips. He tends to slouch with his hands in his pockets, trying very hard not to draw too much attention to himself. His fingers are long and slender, as are his hands themselves. Musicians hand's as a he plays piano, guitar and violin. His eyes move slowly, with great consideration, but never stop moving. He always gives off the sense that he's either about to say something incredibly important and wise, or bolting entirely.
~History~
Kevin is a Muggle-born wizard who began to discover his talents at a young age after a series of incidents. Kevin's father, a musician who worked in at a popular London club, died when Kevin was about 4 in a car accident. At the age of nine Kevin became upset when his mother's new husband talked about either selling all of his father's instruments or putting them into storage because 'its not as if anyone plays them or even knows how to.' A few moments after saying these every instrument in the house began to play themselves. Other such incidents would pepper the boys childhood before receiving his letter from Hogwarts and learning about his true abilities.
Kevin is a natural musician, and his mother, Katherine fostered this ability as it reminds her of her first, now deceased husband, Steven. So far he has learned to play Piano, Violin and Guitar, but only brings the later to school with him, it being his favorite by far. Her new husband, Daniel Shade, is on fairly good terms with his stepson but the two tend to avoid each other, only sharing a nod and the occasional word of greeting if they ever encounter each other in their home outside London. His two step siblings, the twins, show no hint of magical ability and seem to begrudge Kevin his, so they tend to avoid each other as well, not even bothering to share words. In truth Kevin only really cares for his mother, and knows only the basics about his adopted family, and they feel the same way. Katherine is a loving, caring woman who cares for all her children equally and tries to foster their talents, and it was her who pushed through the decision to let him attend Hogwarts when Daniel didn't agree (even though he quickly changed his tone when he found out it wasn't all a scam. Daniel is a Capricorn through and through, and while he doesn't particularly care for Kevin he still wants his step son to have a future). She never fails to return Kevin's weekly owls and loves to go with him to Diagon Alley and other such places, finding the idea of magic fascinating.
Kevin never had only a few friends growing up, but is very personable when one can draw him out of his shell long enough to get a response. So far he has managed to go unmarked even in his own house, and earns high marks in those classes he's actually interested in, especially Transfiguration, Care of Magical Creatures and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Kevin never took an interest in much else, but achieves passable marks in other classes. He'd rather spend his time perched somewhere quiet reading or playing, and can often be found there instead of the bustle of say the common room or quidditch games.
With last year's events Kevin's comfort at Hogwarts was challenged for the first time since his arrival. He always thought Dumbledore was cracked, but in a very good way and greatly mourned his death and was surprised to learn Snape was his murderer. Kevin never had any liking of Snape, but as he had always been quiet and successful in his early Potion's Classes he never had any real conflicts with him either. The fact one of his professors, in whom he put a strong amount of trust, was capable of such things shook him greatly. He came back to school set on not only devoting more time to Defense Against the Dark Arts, but doing personal studies of his own to further his knowledge.
~Personality~
Kevin is a warm and considerate person who, while not personable, always reacts in a friendly and personable manner when treated in the same way. He is prone to bouts of moodiness and introspection, but tries not to impose this side of himself on others, and tends to withdraw when hurt or upset. He does not think highly of himself, but when angered or offended he sinks into a perfect state of passive aggressiveness, freezing out the person who has caused it and using his usually entertaining wit to strike stinging blows. He is usually very reasonable and open-minded, but is not swayed easily in his own opinions.
Kevin is not ambitious and hopes to settle into a comfortable job working for the Ministry of Magic (Beast Division or Misuse of Magic) or find something related to both travel and culture in the private sector, but other than that would just like a quiet life where in he has time to play his music and continue his private studies. These studies embrace a wide variety of sectors, from Muggle literature to Oriental ceremonial magic. In secret he has a draw towards studying the Dark Arts more deeply, but tends to keep this to a minimum, especially with current circumstances. This is due more to his innate curiosity of things forbidden and less to a dark nature however. And while he has put it even more deeply into the secret corners of his mind over the past year, part of Kevin knows that sometimes fighting fire with fire is the only answer. If there is anything that will intrigue this Ravenclaw it is something he's not supposed to know, and thus while he will be the last to tell a secret he's among the first to listen more closely when those around him are whispering conspiratorially.
Kevin's cat Morrigan is also a big part of his life as well. She is in some ways his Anima. A large black cat with one white paw and bright green eyes, Morrigan is a living terror to everything living and some things…recently deceased. Smart, mean spirited, and viewing everything in terms of Slaves (Kevin and sometimes his roommates), Rivals (other cats: to be eliminated), Prey (most things that breathe from 1rst years to hippogriffs) and Toys (Kevin's friends, siblings and family, Flitwick (until he sent her to the rafters), her squeaky mouse, and anything from expensive vases to the suites of armor). [Player note: I love Morrigan yes, but don't worry. I'm not one of those nuts who plays his cat as another character. She is for personal plot development only]
In the past year Kevin has begun to struggle with a completely new aspect of himself as well. Girls never held much fascination for him, and his confusion at the other boy's antics when it came to the opposite sex has always been apparent. He gets along well with females, as they compose most of his friends. In the past year he has begun to realize that, while his attraction to the opposite sex is no more than fraternal at most, his interest in his own roommates and male-friends seems somehow different from the other guys. It tends to make him feel isolated, and sometimes causes this usually calm and kind soul to lash out when people joke about that kind of thing. Kevin can't deny that he's probably gay, but it doesn't mean he's at all comfortable with it, and therefore simply tries to keep it from himself entirely and tends to bolt if he feels he's starting to become too attracted to another boy.
